I would suggest that the purpose of prayer is not to pray for things. But it is to empty the mind and focus on the Divine at least in concept, the idea of the existence of an all pervading benevolent intelligence, and this brings to one faith and power. If one is watchful and aware one will see to catch a glimpse of it's activity in the synchronicities and timing of events, bringing further affirmation and strength.

The Supreme Being already knows what it is that you want and need. The idea of prayer in my teachings is to allow the Supreme Being to communicate to you and allow you to be open and receptive to the solutions and paths to make your ideal dream a reality. The idea that you actually would need to tell the Supreme Being what is in your mind is sort of a cosmic joke.
